Anybody who knows anything about the world of Telugu cinema is probably aware of the crazy fandom of Pawan Kalyan, the Telugu megastar. Being the demi-god for Telugu movie fans, his personal life has been constantly not only under scrutiny but his die-hard fandom also takes it on themselves to ensure is demi-god status is never questioned by anyone. However, recently on Twitter, Power star’s ex-wife Renu Desai got engaged to another man and Twitter literally exploded. From fans shaming Renu, to her constantly furious tweets, twitteratis today got a front seat view of the circus that unfolded due to Renu Desai’s engagement. Here is how the drama unfolded on Twitter.Renu first posted a beautiful picture of getting engaged to a man whose identity has not been confirmed yet. Then she went on to rant against her ex-husband superstar Pawan Kalyan and his infidelityEarlier she has also threatened that if people call her son Akira Nandan Jr. Power Star she will block them from her social media accounts.Pawan Kalyan Fans or Pawanists as they call themselves are anyway notorious for trolling and shaming who they think causes any distress to the star. Thus they jumped into the circus and surely made their presence felt.Although twitter dramas are usually our guilty pleasure, this one surely left a bad taste in our mouth.

In an interaction with a reputed media company Mrs Madhu Chopra said she could barely speak to Nick, quipped she, “We just went out for dinner where Nick was present. But it was a large group. It is no secret that the country's most loved host, has other talents in him. He is an actor, a singer and now a rapper too!Funny man Maniesh Paul, who is accompanying the Dabangg Salman Khan in the Dabangg Tour 2018 performed the opening act of the tour 'Dabangg Anthem'.Maniesh Paul danced to the pumped up volume and the crowd frenzy knew no boundary! His performance on the 'Dabangg Anthem' rapped in his own voice was sheer madness. This topsy-turvy situation was further exacerbated by his frantic dance moves with his signature pelvic thrusts, intersperced in the performance throughout the'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi'title track with Salman and Jaqueline. All hell broke loose when Mainiesh shook a leg with the dancing legend Prabhu Deva and Sonakshi Sinha on'Chikni Kamar Pe Teri.'The ladies and even some men (wink wink) in the audience almost fainted ogling at his muscles as he flexed his vascular arms while doing the boogie woogie! What followed was sheer Maniesh Mania - the hooting, whistling and clapping grew even more viscious and knew no bounds when he later performed with Salman and Sonakshi on the hit song'Munni'followed by the finale where every one performed together!Surely, Maniesh began the tour with a Bang and left the crowd asking for more!!Let us now wait and watch, what else he has rolled up in his sleeve! For more such B'town updates and scoops, keep a tab on Desimartini.com

It was a star-studded evening at the Sea Princess Hotel in Juhu (a Mumbai suburb), where the media and the film personalities had gathered for the press conference of the trailer and music launch of a film. The film is touted to be the directorial debut of Ismail Darbar (well, to those of you who would think of Ismail Darbar the music director is fatally wrong!) This Ismail has no connection whatsoever with him!Well the film is titled, “Yeh Kaisa Tigdam,” Ashutosh Rana and Ajaz Khan have been cast in the film. However, turned out that only Ashutosh was present for the event!Songs for the fi were being played on a huge LCD in the auditorium that was made to simulate a cinema hall. While most of the people were busy ogling at the half-naked ladies on screen, Ashutosh got a call which got him tensed. He looked at his phone and answered the call in whispers. His brow tightened and he whisked himself away from the midst of the gathering, little did anyone notice though. Finally, the song got over and I was gradually coming back to my senses, (Apparently, I became unconscious while the song was being played) and so were the lights in the auditorium. Things had turned out pretty organised up until the time when the organisers invited Ashutosh up on stage to receive a gift for gracing the event. The organisers had already announced rana’s name and he was nowhere to be found. People started looking high and low for him, some even thought he might have left midway! People looked around, there were tightened eyebrows, panicked faces and fuming expressions but no one could yell or make any comment that would convey disappointment. Well, Ashutosh was a known face and was the chief guest of the occasion. How could they?Well anyway, after a little hullaballoo off sorts, a figure was seen cutting through the crowd towards the podium and the same faces which were panicked and borderline grief-stricken had smiles beaming! You guessed it! Ashutosh was finally done with the call and he walked up to the podium and received his award. The press for some bizzare bombarded him with questions regarding nepotism. However very calmly he said, he doesn’t believe it is in anyway wrong. His argument was why would I just help other to gain a ground in the industry when I have my own son and daughter trying to make a mark in the industry? “When it is there in the family line for ages, it is quite obvious that the generation to come will also be part of the same industry. I don’t understand the hue and cry around this! The actor who prefers to speak in Hindi instead of English further thundered, “This [[phenomenon has been a part of our culture since decades! A doctor’s son is expected to be a doctor, an engineer’s son is expected to be an engineer, so isn’t it obvious that someone from the film industry will expect his children to be part of the profession as well?!Well, we at Desimartini.com can’t agree more to the statement made by the actor, however we can’t also negate the fact that the film industry is for all and sundry. Just because one belongs to a film background, doesn’t really mean that genuine talent will be pushed away in the abyss! For more such Bollywood updates and goss, keep a tab on Desimartini.com!

One of the most salient feature of Bollywood films have been its emphasis on music. Music has been such an integral and significant part of Bollywood, that it totally impossible to imagine Bollywood without music.Coming to this year, so far 2018 has been quite a mixed bag for Bollywood in terms of films and also for music. From typically Bollywood in Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety, to grand and epic in Padmaavat to that of a entirely new taste in Raazi, 2018 so far has managed to present a good variety in terms of good music. However, there have also been films whose music album simply failed to impress us even one bit. Here are the ones we are talking aboutRace 3Whether it was Pehla Nazar in Race or Lat Lag Gayee in Race 2, Race franchise has always been synonymous to chart-topping music. However with below average music and lyrics that sound like it was penned by nursery kids, Race 3 happens to be the worst music album of the year so far. ‘Selfish’ is going to haunt us forever and don’t even get us started on ‘saath mai hain, haath main hai, tattoo’. Like seriously, what were the makers even thinking?ParamanuSo I know that Paramanu is probably not a film that you see for great music, but surely that is no excuse for coming up with music that is just pure lazy. Music directors Jeet Ganguli and Sachin Jigar tried to bring in the flavor of folk and add patriotic tadka to the music of the film, but in the ended up cooking a dal that was insipid at its best and thoroughly dated at its worst.1921In the days of yore, if not anything then Bhatt films for known for their hauntingly beautiful music, but sadly it seems like those days are really over. One of the most forgettable releases this year, 1921, to be honest, does not have unpleasant music but it is so horribly dated and monotonous that it is almost impossible to separate it from the music of other Bhatt camp films in the recent years. Just like their stories and genre, Bhatt movies have also stuck a particular type of music that is totally failing to entertain us anymore.Nanu Ki JaanuIt is probably the worst torture that Bollywood has inflicted upon us so far. But even if we for a second forget that how terrible this film really was, we cannot forget the seriously bad music of the film. From insipid, dated to bizarre, the film’s music is all that and more. No, even ‘Tere Thumke Pe Sapna Chaudhry’ won’t convince us into calling the music of this film even slightly bearable.Hate Story 4No matter how much we troll Himesh Reshammiya, we can never disagree that we did enjoy his music in the 2000s and songs like Aashiq Banaya Apne and Naam Hai Tera Tera will always have a special place in our hearts. Thus this film murdering those tunes with unnecessary auto-tuning can never go down well with us. Also Naam Hai Mera Mera was just a bad idea. The other tracks of the film which are original are so horribly dated that it does take you back to 2000s but not in a very good way.10 Bollywood Love Triangles You Wish Had a Different Ending

One of the hardest part of being a celebrity is being subjected to constant scrutiny. Apart from, in the current scenario, netizens and twitteratis and especially the trollers make sure to catch them the moment they lay their guards down. From what they wear, to what they say to how they walk and how they sit, they watch every move like a hawk and thus being a celebrity is no mean task. But this hardship is doubled when a celebrity is in a relationship with another known face. Not only the interest doubles, but one is constantly held responsible for their partner’s action or words. Here are a few Bollywood celebrities who got trolled because their partnersHimansh KohliRemember the time Yaariyan actor Himansh Kohli was massively trolled for being rude and hurtful to alleged girlfriend Neha Kakkar? However, recently on a reality show, Neha revealed that it was a just a stupid disagreement she had with our boy and she posted about the same on her social media without thinking so much, but she never expected him to face such a backlash. The singer also went on to apologize for the actionAnushka SharmaIn an incident that can only be called shameful, fans of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, mercilessly trolled Anushka for Virat’s poor performance on the field, while they were dating. She was even called unlucky for him. However, like a true gentleman, Virat slammed back at the trolls and declared that Anushka has only been supportive and a source of positivity for her and people should feel ashamed for trolling her for his poor performance.Twinkle KhannaTwinkle Khanna, who is known for speaking unabashedly about pertinent issues was massively trolled when she initially kept silent during the raging Akshay Kumar and Mallika Dua spat. She was called a fake feminist for not slamming her own husband for making an inappropriate joke on comedian Mallika Dua during a reality show. However, she made the matter worse by posting jokes on the same incident later on and was, needlessly to say, trolled again, though this time for her own actions.Shahid KapoorThe netizens when less than thrilled when Shahid’s wife Mira Rajput expressed her rather warped opinions on feminism, motherhood and working women comment. Although the actor had no part in the whole fiasco, for some days after the incident he received a lot of flak on the social media due to his wife’s ignorant and half-baked comment.Sunny LeoneRecently Sunny Deol and Daniel Weber’s way of celebrating Father’s Day was less than popular with some people. The photo where Sunny appears to be nude while in bed with Daniel and holding baby Nisha did not go down well with many. Even though the picture involved both, it was Daniel who posted it but it was mostly Sunny who received a lot of flak and unsavory comments because of the picture.

Of late the spirit of experimenting with new genres and styles in Bollywood has surely become something to be proud about as a Bollywood fan. While some experiments have worked, some has fallen flat on face, but that does not mean that we should give up.Out of all emerging trends in Bollywood, one trend that is not talked about much or not tried enough is that of anthologies. But given the current consumption pattern of the audience, anthology might be the next big thing that Bollywood will have to crack.Firstly, presently in Bollywood, most good directors have carved a niche for themselves and it is pretty easy o spot the director by seeing the movie given the strong sense of individuality that these artists have inculcated. In case of an anthology, all these different directors coming together with their different flavors to come up with one tasty cocktail is surely a bright idea.Yes, the track record of anthologies in Bollywood has not been very great. From Bombay Talkies to Dus Kahaaniyan, none have done a successful at the box-office. But it is not the format that is at fault here. The problem lies in the understanding of the format. An anthology does not mean bringing together multiple directors and have them make small films and then merge them as one, that would have been a compilation. But an anthology necessarily means that different stories coming together by different people on a common theme brings out the plurality of theme and is perhaps one of the best ways to ensure a 360 degree coverage of the subject. Such a theme can only enrich the medium of cinema and we surely want Bollywood to be enriched.Anthologies, by the sheer nature of its complexity, tends to deal with issues that are not probably tackled by mainstream cinema. While we have to agree that making a parallel content film has become easier than what it used to be, but it still requires a lot of effort. In such a scenario, instead of one, multiple makers and directors pulling in their resources make sure that parallel content continues to get new impetus of life.Coming to the present scenario, the new anthology Lust Stories on Netflix, which has stories directed by the gems of Bollywood like Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Karan Johar, who collaborated after Bombay Talkies, has been much talked about.Given the new digital platform has become one of the most viable sources of content and entertainment now, it is perhaps the best time to experiment with a format like anthologies. The digital audience, who are exposed to cutting-edge global entertainment, is perhaps just the right audience for a format like an anthology and the success of Lust Stories is a testament to this.We had the talent, we managed the resources, but the only thing holding back filmmakers from experimenting with a format as rich and vibrant as anthologies was perhaps the audience. Now with the digital audience, that gap has been bridged and it is one opportune moment that Bollywood needs cease and make the most out of, all the while adding its unique flavor to this one unique format of filmmaking or rather storytelling.

We hardly remember the last time the nation went this crazy about a film as they are going about Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanjay Dutt biopic, Sanju. The teaser, the trailers and the posters have literally kept us on tenterhook and 29thJune seems too far for our excitementWhile the film has decided to go for an all holds barred approach and is supposed to bring all aspects of Sanjay Dutt’s life to the celluloid which of course, includes the people who have played a significant role in his journey and life. In light of these, the absence of certain people from the trailer is seriously confusing us.Here are some important people in Sanjay Dutt’s life who absence from the film is confusing us.Ex WivesOne of the most surprising things about the trailer was the apparent absence of two ex-wives of Sanjay Dutt, Rhea Pillai and Richa Sharma. We understand that both the relationship did not end on a happy note, but even then ignoring two of the most important relationships of his life from his biopic sure leaves some room for head scratching. In fact, his elder daughter Trishala Dutt’s character is also probably not a part of the filmMadhuri DixitOne of the most sensational affairs of the 90s was that of Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit. Although both of them never accepted the relationship in public, on several occasions the love between the two was evident. But due to the tumultuous nature of their relationship probably, the makers decided to keep this one controversial affair of Sanjay out of the movie. Even then, we sure would have liked to know Sanjay version of one of the most talked about doomed affair of Bollywood.Kumar GauravInitially, the rumors were that Vicky Kaushal is modeled after Sanjay’s best friend and brother-in-law, yesteryear actor Kumar Gaurav, but soon it became clear that the character is based of another really close friend of Sanjay, Paresh Gehlani. In that case, the exclusion of Sanjay and Kumar Gaurav’s friendship from the movie is a little disappointing perhaps.Priya DuttWell, technically the trailer does show Sanjay having two sisters, Namrata and Priya, but only in a flash. However, if real life is anything to go by then Sanjay’s younger sister, Priya Dutt happens to share a really special bond with him. She has truly been a pillar of strength for her brother and has been seen with him during the most trying times of his life. But in the trailer or in the posters, the apparent absence of Priya Dutt is surely bothering us a little.Subhash GhaiSanjay in his almost three-decade-long career has worked with a multitude of directors and we totally understand that not all can be a part of the narrative. But director Subhash Ghai, who gave Sanjay one of his most iconic film and character with Khalnayak is probably one of the influential directors of Sanjay’s life and we have not really seen any mention of his in the trailer or the posters. It would have, perhaps, been interesting to see the equation that they shared and how the iconic character was brought to life.

Being an avid music lover, I had literally lived through listening to almost every genre. However, when it came to Bollywood music, I found it to be quite repetitive, not to mention the shoddiness that is creeping up stealthily. The depth is fast disappearing! The music scene in our part of the world is replete with gimmicks and blatant imitation of the west; perhaps because of the trend and the humongous profit influx. But, what about harmony? What about melody? What about the SOUL?It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that nowadays the norm is just to rip off an old song and spruce it up into upbeat remixes which are played in the pubs to a groggy, foot thumping crowd! -Anyway, so it was quite a routine day at the office and I was surfing through the internet to find something that would soothe my senses, just then did I stumble on the Drishyam Play channel on YouTube! No sooner did I start viewing the original music videos on the channel than I almost instantly knew my current opinion about the Bollywood music scene was surely not the be all and end all for things! There is hope for music today and forever will be. And I knew I had to do a lot of catching up with the minds behind the initiative! For the uninitiated, Driysham Play is an idea, an enterprise that intends to salvage music, make original renditions and serve it in front of all and sundry for a taste of sheer NIRVANA! Yes, it aims to keep the hope for music to thrive! Thrive in a space that is not gimmicky, a space that is all SOUL and ARDOUR!Project Head - Mukta Bhatt and Drishyam Films Founder, Manish MundraThe brain-child ofDrishyam Filmsfounder Manish Mundra,Drishyam Playaims to help promote non-mainstream genres as well as upcoming singers, lyricists, composers and instrumentalists. Manish who has been the man behind some path-breaking content on the celluloid, is ecstatic to be part of the gambit which is still in its nascent stage. He firmly believes this will metamorphose into the next big thing in the music industry! The unconventional Mundra is seen as an inspiration to many who want to make it big in the film industry, especially because of all the struggles he underwent to be where he is - and with a reputation like that, it was almost a given that, whenever creative bankruptcy engulfed Bollywood, his films revived the notion of creativity and original content! And he vouches to do the same with music as well and thankfully so!I got into a conversation with Mukta Bhatt, head of the project in the very office of Drishyam Films earlier this week and she spoke at length about Drishyam play and where it is headed too. Mukta who also penned down the soulful lyrics of the song ‘Rab Jogi’blatantly says Drishyam Play is making very meaningful content especially in an era that doesn’t shy away from taking old songs and remixing them. The dynamic lady asserts, quite contrary to the rife belief about the dearth of talent, there are so many people out there who are ready to write, compose and sing but they do not have a platform. Bhatt who also penned down the lyrics of the soul-stirring “Mera Rab Jogi Ban Ayaa,” a music video that has garnered over two million views on YouTube, thinks people in the nooks and crannies of the country are looking for a vent to bring their talent out in the open. But they don’t know how to do it. Quipped she, “There are no job portals for talents sitting in the remote corners of our country, they don’t know how to get in touch with production houses; they are not aware of the packaging process in order to bring the final product in front of the audience.“We at Drishyam Play are trying to bridge that gap. We are busy making original music and even when we are dabbling into the folk music genre, we are adding the extra element of story-telling to it!”Here, the lovely song called‘Mumal’ is worth a mention. The song has been beautifully rendered by a 70 year old Rajasthani folklore singer Dapu Khan who plays an ancient instrument called the Khamachya. On YouTube the video has garnered more than a million views!Mumalhappens to be a very renowned Rajasthani folklore which talks about the love-saga of Rana Mahendra and Mumal. It is a fervent Jaisalmeri love story that is laced with the heat of passion and deceit. The original folk-song is just about the feelings and emotions of Rana Mahendra, however in a bid to make the song different and yet (in the words of Bhatt) “retain the authenticity of it”; Drishyam Play recreated it by kind of construing Mumal’s emotions as well. Vibha Saraf, who happens to be a Kashmiri singer has wondrously weaved love and longing through her rendition in the song! Vibha’s Hindi lines also kind of helped the song to have a pan-India appeal. Having said that, I firmly believe music knows no boundaries. It lets the soul do the talking.Prior to venturing in the creative space, Ms Bhatt was a business analyst with Star. When she met Mr Mundra, she came to know, how Mundra so wanted to retain the Intellectual Property to the music he made, this led to their association. She feels doing the songs and then videos for the songs are a different high altogether, “Making the song (‘Rab Jogi’) was a very organic process. The song was beautifully composed by Santosh Jagdale and when Manish heard it, he fell in love with it instantly. Mame Khan who was then performing in Anti-Social (a resto-pub in the suburbs of Mumbai) heard it and agreed to sing it almost instantly being completely oblivious to the fate of the song. Once he sang the song, the track was uplifted even more!”In any scenario for that matter, let alone the music-space, comparisons are inevitable and in this case, the semblance between Coke Studio and Drishyam Play are pretty obvious. However, there are MARKED DIFFERENCES as well. Instead of shying away from a response in the same direction, Mukta had a very valid point to make, “In Coke Studio most of the songs are recreated and we have a very fresh approach towards ours.”Mukta who is very determined to view Drishyam Play as a standalone entity also asserted, instead of keeping music surrounded amidst the four walls of the auditorium or the recording studio, it has been brought out in the open. She thundered, “We came out of the closed environment, we are not calling the artistes to us, we are taking our set up and reaching out to them, not just to record their voices but also to delve in their milieu, understand their background, we travel with them and understand their space. In addition to that we are also working with established bands! We are doing both!”Needless to say, her approach towards music and her trying to understand the pulse of the country by seeping their cultures into her being is truly laudable! The enthusiastic dame also was open about how she ended up making banks of not just artists, singers and lyricists but of cinematographers and directors as well.Drishyam Play’s next “Saawariya” is due for release on YouTube on the 25thof June. This song has been sung by Shilpa Rao.I got in touch with Naresh Kamath who is the composer of the song. Kamath who is one of lead bass guitarists of India is very excited with his association with Drishyam Play, says he, “I saw some of their videos on YouTube, I took Drishyam to be a movie company but when I heard ‘Rab Jogi’, my manager got in touch with me and informed me about Drishyam Play. I thought we should take this forward. That’s when I met Mukta and there was no looking back. Mukta had her eyes onSaawariyaand that was finally the chosen song! The erstwhile bass guitarist of the Malyali folk-rock band Avial had nothing but praises for Drishyam and its initiative. He declared, “There’s no particular genre they want to delve into, they are open to anything, but it folk music or aQawwalior aThumriso on and so forth.”We all know about how money hungry the industry is; however, Naresh feels Drishyam Play is a CHANGE of sorts, quips he, “Here are some people who want to make a difference in the money-minded industry. There is so much that the country has to offer but they don’t find any chance. Something of this sort is so encouraging to them! I am extremely happy that Drishyam displayed the guts and I hope this becomes an example of sorts and many others follow suit!”Drishyam surely is such a brave and lovely gambit. Shouldering the responsibility to bring in a change is surely a first of sorts in the industry. We at Desimartini.com firmly believe that such gumption should be encouraged and welcomed with open arms. We wish Drishyam Play humongous success and love. And again, the latest from their stable ‘Saawariya’ that has vocals by Shilpa Rao, composed by Naresh Kamath will release on YouTube on the 25thJune. We hope people love it and it gets all the adulation it truly deserves!
