100 Hours 100 Stars: Sameera Reddy Talks Body Positivity Reveals Post Her First Pregnancy She Didn't Look Into The Mirror For A Year

Sameera Reddy has been one of the most vocal Bollywood stars on social media about embracing body positivity and learning to love yourself as you are. Be it talking freely about her postpartum depression which she suffered with for nearly a year and a half after she gave birth for the first time or stunning one and all with her underwater pregnancy shoot the second time around Sameera has really had an entire journey of embracing herself.

Now, joining Fever FM in their very special initiative to raise funds to fight covid-19 Sameera spoke about her journey and how she came to gain the clarity that helped her embrace herself.

Sameera spoke about how she used to be very body conscious as an actress she always tried to make herself slim to look a certain way for her movies and how it took her time to relieve herself of that pressure and embrace herself. She made it a point to speak about how it’s not just stressing about post pregnancy but how people on social media try to be the most glamorous versions of themselves when in reality they might be going though something difficult. “I will tell you that at times that people have loved me the most like I did this film called Vaaranam Aayiramand today I am telling that during the making of that film I remember that I was going through a break up and It was personal and I was miserable through that film,” she said.

Urging people to look at the brighter side of the lockdown and spending time at home, the actress added, “This lockdown is an amazing time to just take it by the horns and say ‘you know what I want to get into this and I am going to make it black and white.’ I always tell my son and he’s four-and-half years old. When I ask him something and he says ‘I don’t know mumma’ and I am like ‘listen bro, it’s black and white there’s no grey, there’s no in between, either you want it or you don’t.’ You’ve got to know what you want ‘cause if you’re clear then everything is clear around you.”

Talking about if the clarity was something that took her time achieve. “It was after I gave birth and I became really huge, like I had touched like a 105 kgs, so I was massive. My husband couldn’t put his arms around my waist, I was that big and this I four years ago. I remember at that time for one year I wouldn’t look into the mirror, I would not be able to. I was still wearing these oversized tights, not looking in the mirror, not being able to connect with what had really happened.”

“ I wasted so much time, I mean, woman for what? For society, does it even really matter. I think when I finally broke that thing in my head and I said you know what I am 105 but I’ll get to my optimum weight which is about 75. But till I get there I am actually going to try to love myself till then and that’s when I made this decision of no grey. Today with my second child I am obsessed about holding onto the good. It’s very strange and I employ everybody to do the same.”

Well Sameera has broken many barriers with her attitude to life and is an inspiration to all her followers who love to see how she is beaming with positively  by just keeping it real.
