16 Years Of Kal Ho Naa Ho: Shah Rukh Khan's Kids Never Watched Him Dying In The Film, Here's The Ending They Got Instead

Shah Rukh Khan, Priety Zinta and Saif Ali Khan’s love triangle Kal Ho Naa Ho made is laugh and cry with equal intensity. The film that is close to the hearts of millions of fans completes 16 years since its release and is still fresh in our memories as we watched it the first time thanks to all the re-runs of the movie that we have had till date.

The story about a terminally in Aman uniting the love of his life Naina with Rohit who loves her equally before he dies had some very emotional moments. Aman dying at the end of the movie is probably the most heartbreaking moment of the film and we could weep fresh tears just thinking about it. But Shah Rukh Khan’s children Suhana Khan and Aryan Khan apparently never got to watch the original ending of the movie as all of us did. In 2015, SRK confessed that a special edit of the film was made by Karan Johar just for his kids so that they didn’t have to watch him die of a terminal disease.

 A fan had shared a video of a little girl crying watching the ending of the film and Shah Rukh wrote on Twitter, ‘Never shown the ending of kal ho NA ho 2 my kids. karan made a special edit where movie ends before I fly away’.

The film is no doubt one of the closest projects to Karan Johar’s heart who wrote it with Kareena Kapoor in mind to play Naina. Salman Khan was also approached for the role to play Rohit while Neetu Kapoor was asked to play Jenny. The casting the filmmaker had in mind never quite worked out but the product couldn’t have been more perfect than it turned out. Karan Johar in his biography The Unsuitable Boy even confessed that he regrets not directing the film himself.
