20 Years Down Twinkle Khanna Proves That Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Is A Blockbuster Because Of Her

It took Twinkle Khanna 20 long years to realize that she truly regrets turning down the offer to play Tina in Karan Johar’s directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai that released in 1998 and was a huge box office success. The irony is that Karan Johar who also wrote the film had Twinkle Khanna in mind when he put the story together and it was her name that inspired the name of the character that eventually was played by Rani Mukerji.

The story goes that Twinkle was not satisfied with the part as the character eventually dies in the film. Karan then had to know many doors before finally locking in Rani for the part and look where it brought her! Twinkle is not unaware of the fact and at the 20-year anniversary celebration of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai yesterday, the actress spoke about rejecting the film and finally letting out the regret she truly feels. But Mrs. Funnybones certainly did not miss the irony and the humor in the subject and concluded that she is glad she turned the film down.

Twinkle has given mostly flops in her brief acting career and felt that if she did say yes to playing Tina, this film would have flopped too and she referenced that to having given a flop, Badshah, with Shah Rukh Khan! She also added that her mom Dimple Kapadia too feels that the best part about Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the fact that she was not in it!

    Here's what she said -

“I never in my life regretted of not doing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. But after realizing the aura the film still have today, I really regret of not being a part of the film. Nevertheless, if I would have been a part of this film it would have been a big flop like rest of my films. Imagine even my film with Shah Rukh flopped. My absence from the film made it a huge success. My mother also said me once that, the best part about Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is my absence.”

And just like that once again Twinkle Khanna has won us over with her sense of humor!
