5 Times Extraction Star Randeep Hooda Experimented With Roles And Emerged A Winner
5 Times When Randeep Hooda Experimented
Randeep Hooda is surely one of the most underrated actors of Bollywood. The actor lets his work do the talking and is not much bothered about anything else. We don’t quite see Hooda in many advertisements which imply he steers clear of promoting products be it online or on TV.
He has always left an indelible mark on the minds of the viewers with his exceptional performances time and again. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that in today’s publicity-hungry world, he is an actor in every true sense of the word! That’s what’s commendable about him. We saw him in different avatars over time and he somehow managed to transform himself into the mould of the characters with a chameleonesque ease. Be it the Imtiaz Ali film ‘Highway’ or his latest Netflix release titled Extraction. Where he plays the role of Saju (which also marks the Hollywood debut of the actor), he manages to make all his characters his own and that’s what is required of an actor, isn’t it? And it is special because after he has been showered with praises on the social media this is perhaps the apt time to mull over some of his other character with which he did wow his audiences.

1) SARABJIT (SARABJIT)- In the film, Randeep Hooda played the role of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who gets imprisoned in Pakistan and is given a death sentence. The actor had completely metamorphosed into the character so much so that he became unrecognisable. Randeep lost 18 kgs in just 28 days and this unbelievable transformation and an equally convincing performance cemented his place as one of the most though method actors. And, if in case you wonder how did he manage to lose so much weight in that small amount of time, well, according to his own admission, he just lived on coffee to do it.

2) HIGHWAY (MAHABIR)- Arguably one of the best performances of the actor, Imtiaz Ali’s Highway had hooda playing the role of Mahabir, a quiet and an introvert truck driver who kidnaps a girl. Due to Randeep's compelling, understated and endearing acting in the film, Mahabir is still one of the most loved characters. He was highly appreciated for his role in the film. His body language coupled with the pangs of his heart which pertained to his mother and how he related her with the girl who he kidnapped and is eventually falling in love with. The film had many layers and it dealt with the Stockholm syndrome. For the uninitiated, it pertains to a psychological alliance that hostages develop with their captors during captivity.

3) LAAL RANG (SHANKAR)- Another film that is imperative to be listed in here is Laal Rang. It was a masterpiece but surely didn’t get its due. The film told the story of Rajesh played by Akshay Oberoi and how he takes a liking for Shankar (a Mastaan who runs an illegal blood bank business) played with ingenuity by Hooda. The film is set in Haryana, a milieu that Hooda is absolutely one with and therefore, we are sure, that body language was barely acting. It was natural to him. Needless to say, he killed it!

4) RANG RASIYA (RAJA RAVI VARMA)- Another brilliant film by none other than Ketan Mehta. The film was an intimate portrayal of the legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma. It was once again a performance-oriented role. In this motion picture, it was not just him, in this film, another brilliant artist was equally good that supported his performance with her stellar beauty, presence and acting prowess and she was none other than the beautiful Nandana Sen. Nandana played Sugandha, a muse who he was besotted by.

5) MAIN AUR CHARLES (CHARLES SOBHRAJ)- The film proved to be a box office disaster. In fact, many don’t even know, a film with that name was even released. But the film will surely be a benchmark when it comes to performances. Well, Randeep played Charles Sobhraj in the film. He was just too good with his mannerisms. His Sobhraj was a cypher with a beautiful surface but zero emotions. He looked suave and dashing in the role with those retro coats, his dressing int eh film was on point and so was the portrayal of Sobhraj’s character.
