6 Characters Who Broke The Promises In Films That They Made In The Songs

If there is one thing that most Bollywood films have taken seriously it is promises. The ‘kasme’ and ‘waade’ has been an integral part of many Bollywood films and many characters in many films have landed themselves in grave trouble trying to fulfill some ‘waada’ or the other.

However, just like in life, in Bollywood also if there is a rule there is also an exception to it. While some went to great lengths to deliver on their promises, like coming back from dead, some could not deliver on promises by the end of the film that they made in songs. Here are a few promise breakers of Bollywood who did not deliver on the promises they made in songs.

Vaada Raha- Khakee

In Khakee, Akshay and Aishwarya sing‘Vaada raha, pyaar se pyaar ka…ab na hongey juda’ to each other. But by the end of the film Aishwarya turns out to be a double agent and Akshay Kumar is killed! The ‘judaai’ they promised to evade in the songs clearly took place.

Main Wapas Aunga- Border

In the song ‘ Sandese aate hai’ the soldiers promise with a lot of conviction that they will come back home when they sing ‘Main wapas aunga’. But in an extremely unfortunate turn of events, the only one who delivers on the promise is Sunny Deol who does come back, but others like Akshay Khanna, Sunil Shetty and Puneet Issar who sang ‘main wapas aunga’ is unable to fulfill it as they are killed in the war.

Kasme Waade Nibhayenge Hum- Kasme Waade

When the films is called Kasme Waade and you sing ‘Kasme wade nibhayenge hum….milte rahenge janam janam’ the expectations are bound to be high. Forget different Janams, Suman and amit, who sings the song in the film, are separated in the same janam after Amit’s death and later Suman marries Amit’s lookalike Shankar.

Agar Tum Mil Jao…Zamaana Chhor Denge Hum- Zeher

When Sonia (Shamita Shetty) and Siddharth (Emraan Hashmi) gets married in the film Sonia not only promises to leave the ‘zamana’ for him, she also sings, ‘Kasam teri kasam, taqdeer ka rukh modh denge hum’. But when the two gets seperated and Sonia actually tried arrest Siddharth for a murder case, it is Sidhharth who turns the tide of his and Sonia’s ‘taqdeer’. Dear Sonia, why so heartless?

Jab Tak Hai Jaan- Jab Tak Hai Jaan

It is one film where people rarely sticks to what they say. Aided by a beautiful tune and a heart-melting poetry Shah Rukh Khan promises, ‘Tera haath se haath chhodna, Tera saayon se rukh modna, Tera palat ke phir na dekhna, Nahin maaf karunga main, Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan’. In another stanza he says, ‘Tere jhoothe kasme vaadon se, Tere jalte sulagte khwabon se,Teri be-raham duaaon se, Nafrat karunga main, Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan.’ But since this is Bollywood, he ends up forgetting his ‘nafrat’ for her and also forgives her to be united with her. Clearly not dealing with a ‘sakht launda’ here!

Aankhon Ki Gusthakhiyaan- Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

Nandini is all serious and solemn when she promises, ‘Yeh zindagi aapki hi amanat rahegi, dil mai sada aapki hi mohabbat rahegi, in saanson ko aapki zarurat rahegi.’ But by the end of the film, she falls in love with her husband Vanraj. Poor Sameer, ‘tadap tadap ke reh gaya’.
