If there is one defining moment in Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's love story that set the ball rolling, it definitely has to be the casting of Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela. Sanjay Leela Bhansali had cast Deepika and Ranveer together for the first time, a casting that did not come to any filmmaker's mind before this. In fact, they were made to spend more time together even off-screen to be able to bring out the sizzling chemistry on-screen. But did you know that the two weren't even the first choice of the film.

It is a well-known fact that Kareena Kapoor had been the choice to play Leela in the film. In fact, her picture in the costume of the film had also been doing the rounds. She was finalised and all set to start shoot. But just 10 days before the shoot began, she opted out of the film. It was then that Deepika went to meet the director, with watery eyes and red nose because she was unwell, and it was those eyes that convinced Bhansali to cast her!

It was also being said that Priyanka Chopra was approached to play Leela. She couldn't give her dates and settled for tne item number instead. For the item number, in turn, Bhansali had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan or Madhuri Dixit in mind!

But, did you know that even Ranveer wasn't the first choice to play Ram. Popular Pakistani actor Imran Abbas Naqvi was approached to play Ram, but he declined.

Not just that, Harshvardhan Rane was also apparently approached for the film, but he declined.

Well, their loss was the gain of the cast who finally became a part of the film.
