76-Year-Old Amitabh Bachchan Stays On To Be The 'Maha Nayak', Has 5 Releases In 12 Months

50 years in the industry, 200 odd films, countless hits/superhits/blockbusters, dozens of endorsements and ton loads of goodwill later, Amitabh Bachchan stays on to be the legendary superstar that he has always been. Earlier this year, he delivered his biggest grosser of the recent times in the form of Badla. However, the 76-year-old actor has no intentions of slowing down, as apparent in the fact that he is already shooting for as many as five major films, all of which would release within next 12 months.

    Jhund

As per reports, Amitabh Bachchan has already completed the shoot for Jhund, which is directed by Nagraj Manjule of Sairat fame. After making a romantic drama, the filmmaker is making a social cum sports drama in the form of Jhund which features Amitabh Bachchan in the role of a soccer coach. The film is set in a small town and is said to be carrying an inherent messaging around the rehabilitation of slum kids. Though Amitabh Bachchan was all suave and sophisticated in his last release Badla, he would be seen as a common man in Jhund which arrives this year.

    Chehre

Chehre is in news as it has just been announced with Amitabh Bachchan forming a unique pairing with Emraan Hashmi. A thriller, the film is being directed by Rumi Jaffrey with whom Amitabh Bachchan has earlier worked with in comedy God Tussi Great Ho. Though the film with Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra in leading roles hadn't done well, Big B is trusting Rumi to deliver goods in Chehre which has Kriti Kharbanda as the leading lady. The mystery thriller has already gone on floors and is being planned for release next February.

    Tera Yaar Hoon Main

A Hindi-Tamil bilingual, Tera Yaar Hoon Main fetches its title from a popular song of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. This film appears to be a much simpler affair though, what with S.J. Suryah as Amitabh Bachchan's co-star. This isn't all as it would be more than two decades after Bade Miyan Chote Miyan that Big B and Ramya Krishnan would be reuniting. A drama which is being directed by T. Tamilvanan, the film has already gone on floors. There has been no word on the core plotline of the film, though going by the title it is expected to be a story of two friends.

    Brahmastra

The film was set for release much earlier but has now been pushed to summer 2020 owing to extensive VFX work. Amitabh Bachchan has worked on a number of Karan Johar productions in the past though this one is expected to be special since apparently he is playing God Brahma in there. A film that amalgamates contemporary and mythical times, it is directed by Ayan Mukherjee who is shifting genres completely when compared to his last release Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Ranbir Kapoor is the common element though and that makes the film interesting.

A trilingual which would be released in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is a period war drama that has Chiranjeevi in the lead. This one is a true cross-regional multi-starrer in the making as it features Amitabh Bachchan in a major role along with Vijay Sethupathi, Sudeep and Jagapathi Babu. As for the leading ladies, there are Nayanthara, Tamannaah Bhatia and Huma Qureshi to name a few. The film is based on the life of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, who revolted against East India Company 10 years before the Sepoy Mutiny.
