9 PM 9 Minutes: Akshay, Anushka, Kartik, Katrina And Others Hold Up Candles To Send A Message Of Togetherness In Dark Times

Bollywood stars are on the forefront of spreading awareness in these dark times that loom over the country. As the entire nation stays put behind closed doors to ward off the deadly coronavirus, PM Modi for a second time during the 21 day lockdown requested people to show solidarity towards those working relentlessly outside their homes everyday like the medical professions in hospitals the police patrolling the streets and several others.

Once again after the Janta curfew, Bollywood stars spiritually devoted 9 minutes at 9 PM on April 5 and lit candles and diyas. Unlike the Janta curfew with its clapping and cheering these minutes were quieter and more solemn. Everyone including Deepika-Ranveer, Alia Bhatt, Shilpa Shetty and family, Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha, Karan Johar and his kids, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Taapsee Pannu, Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli and several others help up candles, phone flash lights and diyas as a show of togetherness and saying thank you.

The event was seen all across the nation with homes and societies turning off lights and observing 9 minutes of gratitude. In several places, the lighting of diyas was accompanied by cheers and even claps just like the Janta curfew.

The initiative was certainly a success and once again it was priceless to see Bollywood doing every bit to keep the spirits of their fans high in these tough times, showing solidarity, while also spreading a word of caution.
