    Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor’s 90’s blockbuster Raja Hindustani completes 24 years since its release this year and on the occasion, the film’s director Dharmesh Dharshan shared some interesting back stories from the time when they were working on this award-winning film.

    The film which was a love story between a girl Aarti from an affluent family and a taxi driver Raja talks about how they are driven apart because of the differences created between them by the girl’s family. Talking to Mumbai Mirror the director revealed that his final cut of the film was 3 hours and 20 minutes long and he was forced to reduce 20 minutes more for the film to go to theaters.

    The filmmaker spoke about a particular scene that had him heartbroken while deleting. The scene was one where Raja discovers he has a child with Aarti and barges into her home during her absence and sees the toy, cot and everything else only to be latter thrown out. It is after this scene that Raja decides to kidnap his baby.

    Talking about deleting the scene the filmmaker told the publication, “We’d shot the scene over five days and both Aamir and Archana (Puran Singh) as Shalu were terrific. When I went to Film City to tell Aamir I’d decided to leave it out, he started weeping. I told him that I should be crying too, since I’d written and directed it. But even without that scene, Aamir swept all the popular best actor awards. Maybe that might have won him a National Award.”

    Raja Hindustan also boosts of the longest kiss in a Bollywood and the filmmaker revealed that he had no issues getting it passed by the censor board. He says that in fact he himself decided to shorten it in the final cut.
