Thugs in a way is also a very special film. People are not quite aware of the fact that Aamir was supposed to be paired on screen opposite Mr Amitabh Bachchan twice earlier but things didn’t quite work out. The films were Rishta And Manzoor, but then Aamir became third time lucky. The actor deliberated, Yes, I was supposed to be in a film together with Amitji on two occasions but things didn’t materialise, and now when I was working with him on Thugs, I was nervous, wondering whether or not I will be able to perform with him properly. He went on further to speak about Amitabh Bachchan’s disposition. Quipped he, “Amit is a very warm and generous person, he makes one feel comfortable and is very easy to work with. However, it becomes difficult for a person to discern whether he is joking or he is serious because he has a very dry sense of humour. For instance, if he says something funny, you don’t really know whether he actually said it for fun or did he really mean it. So, you don’t know when to laugh in front of him, what if he takes your laughter in a wrong way!

Mr perfectionist, as they call him also revealed that Amitji spoke to him for half an hour over the telephone after watching the film. Quipped he, Amitji was very impressed with my performance in the film. He told me that he could watch the film multiple times only to watch me perform and that because he belonged to that province of the country (The province of his character Firangi Malla, which is somewhere in UP), he realised that I had picked up the accent pretty well too.”
