Abhishek Bachchan Opens Up About Family's Battle With Covid-19: Didn’t Know Really What Awaited Me On The Other Side

Abhishek Bachchan has opened about contracting Covid-19 last year along with his family. The actor who spent nearly a month recovering from the deadly disease in the hospital along with his superstar father, Amitabh Bachchan in August last year has said during a podcast that he felt ‘powerless’ while his family battled the Covid-19 at the same time.

Abhishek’s daughter Aradhya and wife Aishwarya Rai had also contracted the virus and were briefly hospitalized. He also admitted that it was inspiring to see his 78-year-old father being positive through it all despite suffering from severe comorbidities.

These revelations about suffering from Covid-19 came during a live podcast with international speaker Anand Chulani. IANS quotes the actor saying, “It was not a nice experience for me because you know I had a family that was inflicted by this as well. If you are in a situation where you are under medical supervision, you are very powerless. The initial nights when I was in hospital, it was tough to sleep because I didn’t know really what awaited me on the other side.”

Talking about his father Amitabh Bachchan’s fighting spirit Abhishek said, “It was wonderful to wake up and go see my father who last year was 78 years old, a man with severe comorbidities but him being positive and having that fighting spirit to get through this. At that point of time my energies were obviously directed towards him and him becoming better because you fear for your parents, it’s actually of a sensitive age group."

He added, “He is also a great friend of mine, so it was good to shoot the breeze with him. There was some good banter that went on, I mean he is a good roomy in that sense.”

This the first time Abhishek has spoken about battling Covid-19 months after his family’s recovery. Abhishek and Amitabh both dived into work post recovery. While Big B got busy shooting Kaun Banega Crorepati, Abhishek completed remaining portions of his recently released Big Bull and shot for Bob Biswas followed by Dasvi.
