Abhishek Banerjee wondered if it was a promotional pitch as Taapsee Pannu was trolled for her athletic body in Rashmi Rocket

Actor Abhishek Banerjee has reacted to Taapsee Pannu getting trolled for her athletic body in Rashmi Rocket and said that he was shocked when users on social media called her out for exactly the things that they have made a film on.

Abhishek plays a Human Rights lawyer in the film where he will be seen defending Taapsee’s character in court after a gender test takes a toll on her career as an athlete. While Taapsee has already shared her thought on getting trolled and being called masculine for her build in Rashmi Rocket, Abhishek during an interview with The Indian Express reacted to the trolling and said, “I was shocked. I wondered if it was a promotional pitch and was happening deliberately. It was amusing to see that the troll or comments were exactly what the film was about. Eeshit had to fight the system. But it is actually the people we have to fight against. It’s that basic.”

Rashmi Rocket which releases on Dussehra brings up the issue of gender testing and how it has been misused to end the careers of promising athletes. During the trailer launch of the film last month Taapsee reacted to being trolled called masculine and said, "Who defines what's feminine and what is not? Is it just about your muscular build that you will be judged on who is a female and who is not? Do you realize that there are some hormonal imbalances that are there in certain females by default, it is not their choice? It might be a result of that they end up having the kind of physique that they have.”

Rashmi Rocket will arrive on Zee 5 on October 15.
