Adipurush: Ajay Devgn Turned Down Raavan's Role In Om Raut's Film Before Saif Ali Khan Was Roped In?

Ajay Devgn and director Om Raut worked together in their last film Tanhaji which came out as the only superhit film of 2020. Recently, reports were doing the rounds that Ajay would again collaborate with his Tanjahi director for the latter’s upcoming project. After the huge success of their film together, it was only expected that Ajay would feature as the lead in Raut’s upcoming film Adipurush. But the tables turned, as Om roped in Prabhas in the lead.

Meanwhile, rumors were also doing the rounds that Raut offered the antagonist’s role to Ajay in Adipurush and the offer was politely declined by Devgan. As per Spoteboye sources, Ajay has taken a deliberate decision to stay away from negative roles.

However now, Raut has roped in Saif Ali Khan for Raavan's role in Adipurush. He played the villain in Om Raut’s Tanhaji as well. Saif says he enjoys playing the negative role in a film.  "It's always interesting to dig into the dark side of your personality. I find negative roles fun to do," said Saif

However, it seems like Ajay Devgn disagrees with this thought. The Singham actor refused to play Raavan in the film and was more interested to play Lord Rama in Om Raut's adaptation of the Ramayan in Adiprush. Also, Ajay was offered Rama's role in Raj Kumar Santoshi's proposed adaptation of the Ramayan in 2007.

Santoshi’s Ramayan was aborted as his several proposed projects. The Tanhaji actor was keen to play Rama since Santoshi's aborted project. But it seemed like Om Raut was committed to Prabhas to play Lord  Rama in his upcoming film Adipurush.
