Adipurush: Here’s Why Deepika Padukone Won’t Be Cast Opposite Prabhas Despite Being The Perfect Choice

A few months ago it was announced that Bollywood’s reigning queen Deepika Padukone will be starring opposite South superstar Prabhas in Nag Ashwin’s next project, a ‘pan-world’ film. Tentatively titled Prabhas 21, the film will be set against the backdrop of an imaginary third world war and is expected to go on floors in April next year. Well, it has now been revealed that Deepika was also the first choice for Adipurush, Prabhas’ other big project.

Helmed by Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior director Om Raut, Adipurush will feature Prabhas as Lord Rama and Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist Lankesh. Makers have been on the lookout for an A-Lister Heroine to play the role of Sita in the film and Deepika was the first choice. However, they won’t be approaching her as she is already doing a film with the superstar. In a chat with Spotboye, a source close to Prabhas shared, “But she’s already doing Ashwin Nag’s film with Prabhas. They can’t be paired in two back-to-back films.”

The source went on to add, “It’s a problem. Deepika was the perfect choice. No other A-lister seem to fit into Sita’s role.” Recent rumors suggest that Anushka Sharma, Kriti Sanon and Kiara Advani are being considered to play the role of Sita in Adipurush.
