Adipurush: Saif explains why the Prabhas starrer can’t release anywhere except theatres; Says ‘Om Raut is K Asif reborn’

Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor are currently busy winning hearts with their recently released film Bhoot Police. Also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam, the horror comedy took the digital road and premiered on OTT platform Disney+Hotstar instead of waiting even longer for theatres to fully function amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, Saif does not want his next project Adipurush to go down the same path.

In a recent chat with Mid Day, Saif was quoted saying, “This is a big-ticket movie with never-before-seen [visual effects]. This film can’t release anywhere except in theatres. The [makers] will have to sit on it [until cinemas are fully up and running].” While Saif will be seen as demon king Lankesh in the much awaited mythological film based on Hindu epic Ramayana, Prabhas and Kriti Sanon will portray the roles of Lord Ram and Sita. Sunny Singh, on the other hand, will be seen as Lakshmana.

This is the second time that Saif is joining forces with filmmaker Om Raut, and the superstar could not have been happier! They earlier collaborated for Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which emerged as the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2020. Comparing him to K Asif, who helmed Mughal-e-Azam, Saif stated, “Om Raut is K Asif reborn. He is offering something yet unseen to the [Indian] audience.”
