Aditya Chopra turned down Rs. 400 crores offered by an OTT giant to release pending YRF films digitally?

Even after the monumental success of Sandeep and Pinky Faraar on OTT, it seems that Aditya Chopra is in no mood to let his YRF projects like Prithviraj, Shamshera, Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Jayeshbhai Jordaar release on OTT. While many producers have gone the OTT way and even seen humungous success with their projects, Aditya Chopra isn’t keen on being one of them. According to the latest reports, the filmmaker and producer has refused a deal worth Rs. 400 crores from an OTT giant for a direct digital release of these projects.

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Aditya Chopra turned down not one but several digital platforms that were keen on acquiring rights to his promising upcoming projects. A source of the portal claims Amazon Prime Video made the 400 crore offer to acquire rights to all four films but he didn’t waste any time in refusing the offer.

Earlier this year, all of YRF’s pending projects had been given a release date but only Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar managed to get a limited release before the theatres shut down again due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. Not just the larger than life projects like Prithviraj and Shamshera apparently Aditya Chopra isn’t keen on parting with comparatively smaller films like Jayeshbhai Joordaar and Bunty Aur Babli 2as he believes that YRF films are meant to be enjoyed in cinemas. iT has also been reported that the four long stalled projects will soon get new release dates.
