With a phased Unlock in various states taking place as the Covid-19 cases in the country dip, Bollywood is once again busy marking dates on the calendar for theatrical releases that have now piled up since 2020. With the hope that cinemas in most states will be fully operational in the month of July, the big banners in Bollywood are busy realigning their plans once again and Akshay Kumar’s Bell Bottom is the first of many films to block the calendar.

The Akshay starrer espionage thriller was announced for a theatrical release on July 27 recently even as most cinemas have only been allowed 50% occupancy at the moment. A Mid-Day report gives an overview of when various big films can be expected to arrive in theatres and according to their trade sources, John Abraham had decided to hold of Satyamev Jayate 2 a bit longer in lieu of Attack which already had a place secured for August 13, the Independence Day weekend.

The report further suggests that after Bell Bottom, Akshay’s long-stalled Sooryavanshi is being planned for an October release while Ranveer Singh’s cricket drama ’83 could follow close in its footsteps in November.

Four stalled Yash Raj Films’ movies, Bunty Aur Babli sequel, Shamshera, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, and Prithviraj might also get queued up for theatrical release from September in that order.

Needless to say, these plans depend on the re-opening of cinemas across various states.
