After Getting Delayed Akshay Kumar's Bell Bottom Makers Exploring The Option Of Releasing The Film Directly On Digital?

After his hit streak at the box office it now seems like actor Akshay Kumar is looking to own the digital space with his films too. The actor who last film Laxmii released to a thunderous response after a direct OTT release on Disney+ Hotstar now seems to have plans to release his upcoming thriller Bell Bottom online too.

The makers of spy thriller which was Bollywood’s first film to shot abroad after the Covid-19 pandemic shook the globe are said to be talks for a direct digital release of the film with Amazon Prime Video. While it was earlier reported that the makers moved the release date of the film from April to June, a Bollywood Hungama report now claims that Jackky Bhagnani, the producer of the film, is in talks with the online streaming platform to explore the option of taking the film directly on digital.

While the portal’s source states that it might take nearly a month for clarity on Bell Bottom’s release the option is definitely open. The source further adds, “Given the costs and several other factors associated with the film as also Akshay’s jam packed release calendar, the makers thought of exploring the digital release with Amazon Prime. The Bhagnani’s share a close bond with the digital platform and so does Akshay, and that’s how the meeting happened. All stakeholders are currently working towards arriving at terms and conditions that are beneficial to all of them.”

Bell Bottom was announced to release in theatres to on April 2 but that is too close to Akshay’s much stalled Sooryavanshi which might be arriving around the same time. A June release is in talks but whether the film will arrive in cinemas or stream online is a question we will have to wait to find out.
