    After MET Gala ’20, Now Cannes Film Festival ’20 To Be Postponed To A Later Date

    It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that the coronavirus has changed things and how! Well, it has almost brought about a revolution. People have started mulling over their actions, people have become more alert. Meetings are being cancelled, school and offices are being shut. The public transport system is also affected, the businesses are taking a hit. Events and film promotions and releases are being stalled and all for the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus!

    Well, a few days ago there were reports about Met Gala ’20 being cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak! The virus is spreading rapidly across the globe and the WHO have termed it as a pandemic.  Situations are getting worse; people are preferring to stay indoors more and more and they are practising self-isolation and social distancing. Now after MET gala, the coronavirus has now led the Cannes committee to rethink about their event! Well, yes, the Cannes Film Festival which is a very popular celebration of world cinema that takes place in France every year will not be happening this year at it’s scheduled time and date. The members are planning to reschedule the event at a later date.

    The organisers of the event proclaimed; the Festival de Cannes 2020 has been pushed further as it will no longer be able to take place on the dates planned which are from May 12 to 23. While announcing this news, organisers took to their official Twitter handle and wrote, “Due to the health crisis and the development of the French and international situation, the Festival de Cannes will no longer be able to take place on the dates planned, from May 12 to 23. #Cannes2020”

    They wrote, “At this time of global health crisis, our thoughts go to the victims of the COVID-19 and we express our solidarity with all those who are fighting the disease. Today, we have made the following decision; the festival de Cannes cannot be held on the scheduled dates, from May 12 to 23. Several options are considered in order to preserve its running, the main one being a simple postponement, in Cannes, until the end of June-beginning of July 2020.”
