    Ajay Devgn And Boney Kapoor Pay Their Tributes To Footballer PK Banerjee, Say 'RIP The Man With The Golden Kick'

    Veteran footballer P.K. Banerjee died in Kolkata after prolonged illness at the age of 83. Mourning the loss of the sports icon, Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn who will be seen in a film based on the sport Maidaan, shared a picture with ‘the man with the golden kick’  to pay his tribute.

    A gold-medallist at the Asian Games 1962, Banerjee who belonged to the golden era of Indian football was suffering from to pneumonia and had been on life support since March 2. He was also reported to have had a history of underlying Parkinson's disease, and heart problems.

    Ajay Devgn had met the football star while shooting for Maidaan in Kolkata. The actor in a note on Twitter wrote, “Had the good fortune of meeting football legend PK Banerjee in Kolkata during the Maidaan schedule in November. Sad to hear about his demise. RIP, the man with the golden kick #PKBanerjee.”


    Maidaan producer Boney Kapoor also paid his tribute to the Indian striker and wrote, “To the man with the golden kick - You took Indian #Football to the heights where even our dreams could not have. Deep respect. #RIP#Legend#PKBanerjee#Maidaan”.


    The film has Ajay playing a football coach in the 1950’s and it will be based on a true story.
