Ajay Devgn Turns Down Sanjay Leela Bhansali One More Time, Refuses To Be A Part Of Baiju Bawra?

Well, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is not doing quite well these days! We mean not health-wise, but for his films in the pipeline. As we all know the Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi is yet to finalize the remainder of its cast. And now, the film that Sanjay announced a few days ago that is based on the life and times of the world-famous Indian classical maestro Baiju – Baiju Bawra is in a soup.

Well, the film will chronicle the victory of Baiju (a street singer) over one of the nine gems of Akbar Tansen. Well, Sanjay had approached Ajay Devgn to play the role of Tansen. We all know Tansen will ultimately lose to Baiju and therefore it was quite expected that Ajay will say no to the role, precisely because he was the second lead!

Well, according to a report on Bollywood Hungama, this was exactly the case! The report quotes a source as saying, “ Devgn thinks the title role of Baiju to be far more pivotal than that of Tansen. Baiju Bawra is the story of how a singer from the peasant class scores over the legendary singer Tansen.

One thing worth noticing here is this isn’t the first time, Ajay Devgn has turned down the role given to him by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Many will not know, Ajay Devgn was the first to be approached by Bhansali for his Bajirao Mastani but Devgn turned down the role. The two had worked together in the superhit film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam that released in 1999
