Akshay Kumar Beats The Khans To Deliver The Most Number Of Rs. 200 Crore Films In A Year As Good Newwz Joins The Club

Akshay Kumar is hands down the biggest star of 2019 in Bollywood as the actor delivered four films in the year and all were big hits. However, Akshay’s achievements are far bigger than just that fact. At a time when stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and even Salman Khan are slowing down at the box office, Akshay has gone ahead and created history by scoring three films in the prestigious 200 crore club of Bollywood in a year. The feat is one that no actor in Bollywood has been able to pull off so far and with his last film of 2019, Good Newwz crossing the Rs. 200 crores mark Akshay has sure set the bar pretty high for another actor to beat.

Incidentally, Akshay had also made his debut in the Bollywood 200 crore club in 2019 itself which makes the fact an even bigger reason to celebrate for the actor.He had four films (again the maximum films releases in the year by a lead actor) including Kesari, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4, and Good Newwz. While Kesari managed to cross the Rs. 150 crore mark the box office, the other three have been consecutive Rs. 200 crore hits.

Good Newwz – Rs. 201.14 crores

While Salman Khan still holds the record for delivering the most number of consecutive Rs. 200 crore films [Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Sultan], Akshay [Mission Mangal, Housefull 4, Good Newwz] ties with Aamir Khan [Dhoom 3, PK, Dangal] by delivering three back to back 200 crore films.

The challenge is still big for the Khans to replace Akshay Kumar on this unique pedestal. What will be worth looking out for will be if Akshay is able to repeat his 2019 achievement in 2020 as well as he brings three mega entertainers including Sooryavanshi, Prithiviraj and Laxmmi Bomb.
