Reportedly the 51-year-old actor will now charge Rs. 54 crores per project. While Akshay is known to take home a share of profits from all his films, for all projects where he would just be taking home a regular fee, producers will have to shell out this insane amount. For all those wonder why the peculiar number 54, Akshay’s lucky number is 9 and he has always charged in multiples of the number.

According to a trade source quoted by Deccan Chronicle, “Akshay is fond of the number nine. When he was working on Rowdy Rathore, he billed the makers for `27 crore. But that was in 2012. Now, Akshay demands a cool `54 crore and gets it too. Sanjay Leela Bhansali had bankrolled Rowdy Rathore, which was directed by Prabhu Deva. And when Akshay shifted the release date of PadMan last year to get a free run for Padmaavat at the box office, he jokingly asked Bhansali to promise him a sequel. And now that the sequel is happening, the makers realize that they will need to pay him exactly double for it.”

Currently, Akshay has Mission Mangal, Housefull 4, Laxmi Bomb, Sooryavanshi, Bachchan Pandey, Ikka and a Rowdy Rathore Sequel in his kitty. Mission Mangal releases on 15 August and will clash with John Abraham’s Batla House.
