Akshay Kumar who will be next seen in Excel Entertainment's Gold recently attended an event where he felicitated Indian contingents of Asian Games. Akshay Kumar was one of the main guests at the event, where he wished them good luck for their forthcoming competition of Asian Games.

The actor dedicated Gold's anthem song 'Ghar Layenge Gold' to the contingents to increase their confidence and to boost them up, he called them on the stage and sang the song along with them.

Akshay Kumar proves himself wrong and how with GOLD

Akshay also seemed to be very interested on making such biopics on sports persons and he said “It was definitely a good trend.” Akshay expressed his interest on making a new biopic on another young sportswoman, quipped he, "I would like to make a biopic on Hima Das. She’s a young achiever, in a sport that India has not identified with on the international stage. She won gold in a track and field event, which is a huge achievement and should be highlighted through a movie. As Indians, we run and get on to a bus and train easily. So we have the potential to run. It’s only a matter of time and encouragement before we can make a name for ourselves in track and field events."

Well, we have nothing but appreciation for the actor because of his gesture and his motivation to promote sports through films! Kuddos to him!

However, having said that, we all know Biopics have become a trend in Bollywood especially the ones that have been made on sports personalities. Gold too is a sports biopic. The Khiladi Kumar did admit that Bollywood just keeps on making films on the same topics if one film turns out to be a success. He asserted, “All of us are well aware that, in Bollywood, once a trend happens to be a success, all filmmakers make it a point to follow that trend – “Bollywood mein Bhed Chaal bohot hai.” However, this stance of his did not quite seem to be in tandem with what he stood for earlier. He used to propagate that he makes sure that he and his films don’t really follow any trend. Well, if that was actually the case, what makes him follow the ‘sports biopic trend’ now?! He seemed to contradict his own stance!

What does this mean? Do the actors really mean what they propagate? Or do they say things just to suck in the limelight? Well, whatever the case is, at times when these actors are off guard, extracting the realities from their mouths is no big deal! Sometimes an off the cuff reply is just what it takes to expose the truth!

The sports drama is not only one of the most awaited films of the year

The film has been shot across the UK and India, capturing the fascinating aspects of the pre-independent era.

Starring Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh and Sunny Kaushal, Gold promises power packed performances by an ensemble cast. Gold is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, helmed by Reema Kagti and is all set to release on the 15th August 2018.
