Akshay Kumar's Laxmmi Bomb Heading For A Digital Release In June? Makers Reportedly In Talks With Disney+ Hotstar

In a pre coronavirus world, Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb clashing with Salman Khan’s Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai on Eid was the subject of several headlines. As we near the month of May and given the lockdown, it isn’t very likely that the fans will get to witness either of the two films in theatres.

In this scenario, Akshay Kumar is planning another bold move and planning to get Laxmmi Bomb a release on OTT platforms according to reports. The makers could busy be striking a deal with Disney+ Hotstar to release the film directly on digital platforms.

The film which was slated to release on May 22 might now be pushed for a June release. Bearing in mind that the cine-goers will still be wary of going to movie theatres even if the lockdown ends on May 3 the Laxmmi Bomb makers want to ensure that no one involved with the film faces a loss and thus want to give OTT a shot according to a Mid-Day report.

A source told the publication, “Akshay, director Raghava Lawrence and the producers are discussing the offer. There's a lot of post-production work left on the movie, including editing, background music, mixing and VFX. Since the team is working from home, the process is taking longer than usual. However, the makers are hoping to have the film ready by June.”

The report also suggests that Disney+ Hotstar might give the film the worldwide exposure the makers were hoping for while also planning to release the film in small towns.

The digital platforms have gained heavy momentum during the lockdown becoming the primary entertainers for viewers sitting at home. Already an offbeat project for Akshay, Laxmmi Bomb also set precedence for other filmmakers to follow if it indeed goes as the makers hope.
