Ali Abbas Zafar's Superhero Film Starring Katrina Kaif To Be Made On A Mega Budget And Have A Direct Netflix Release?

Ali Abbas Zafar had recently confirmed that he is indeed going to make a superhero film with Katrina Kaif in the lead. The announcement has sent fans in a tizzy since they will be able to see the actress acing the role of a superhero and nailing some action sequences. The director had also said that the lockdown helped him finish the script and he has been having reading sessions with the actors via video calls. The scale of the film would be big, of course, but now it looks like it would be even bigger than expected. If reports are to be believed, the film would be made on a budget of Rs. 200 crores! And what's more, it would release directly on Netflix as a Netflix original film.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the OTT giant has even sanctioned Rs. 80-85 crores for the first part. For the uninitiated, Ali is keen to spin it into a series and make Mr. India remake a part of it as well. The portal quoted a source saying, "It’s a massive film mounted on a never seen before scale for a female protagonist. Ali was very keen on making it as a feature film for the big screen, but he wasn’t able to raise the funds that were needed, following which he decided to go the OTT way. The filmmaker is of the belief that his next will be a game-changer of sorts for the genre and will pave way for many more women-centric action films in Bollywood."

So what about the budget of the project. The source further added, “The budget of part two will be decided based on how part one of the superhero film fares. But the idea is to go a notch higher as the story moves forward and take a stride in budget too, going above Rs. 100 crore, taking the net-worth of Katrina’s film close to Rs. 200 crore.”

The film is expected to have some larger-than-life stunts and give India its first female superhero! Well, all we can say is that we are super excited!
