    Bollywood actor, producer, and director Arbaaz Khan was summoned by Thane Police yesterday in relation to a betting scandal. The actor was part of a betting ring led by bookie Sonu Jalan aka Sonu Batla who had operations running in India and abroad. Arbaaz confessed to having placed bets on IPL matches.     Arbaaz's Involvement: He earlier today confessed to the Police that he had been placing bets on IPL matches for the past 6 years. The actor placed his bets through bookie Sonu Jalan and was brought face to face with him today. The police had issued a summon to Arbaaz to appear before them and record his statement yesterday.

    The money: Arbaaz Khan confessed that he lost 2.8 Crore Rupees to Sonu Jalan by placing bets on IPL matches and he wasn't paying Jalan back. The bookie had threatened the actor as confirmed during his interrogation by the police.

    Who is Sonu Jalan? 

    Sonu Jalan is a bookie who also goes by the name of Sonu Batla and operates numerous betting rings in India and abroad. Their ring places bets on IPL as well as international matches. He is said to be connected to Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

    How The Police nabbed Sonu Jalan?

    Jalan was visiting a person (who was called for questioning) at the Kalyan Court and when the police became aware of Jalan's presence, they arrested him. The police then laid a trap for all the other persons involved in this betting ring and this is when Arbaaz's name cropped up.

    Who are all involved?

    The anti-extortion cell of the Police arrested Gautam Sawla, Khushal Rama Bhiya, Bittu Joshi, Nikhil and Nitish Punjani in connection to the betting ring. A diary has also been recovered by the police which contains notes by Jalan and is full of his contacts many of whom are prominent personalities and big names in Bollywood.
