    The Amazon forest fires have raised a big cause of concern on social media especially due to the lack of media coverage on the same. Hollywood and Bollywood stars took to social media to raise awareness on the environmental calamity that has had 72,843 fires are consuming the biggest rainforest in the world this year. The forest fires have been detected by Brazil's space research center INPE.

    Right from Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor to Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and several other stars have posted on social media about the forest fire to raise concern on the matter.

    Akshay Kumar on Twitter wrote, “Been seeing heart-breaking & alarming pictures of the Amazon rainforest which has been on fire since more than 2 weeks!It is responsible for 20% of the world’s oxygen.This affects each one of us...the earth may survive climate change but we won’t. #SaveTheAmazon #PrayForTheAmazon


    Alia Bhatt shared pictures of the fire on Twitter and wrote, "The 'lungs of our planet' are burning! The #AmazonRainforest is home to about 3 Mn species of plants & animals and 1 Mn indigenous people. It plays an important role in keeping the planet's carbon dioxide levels in check. We won't exist without it! #SaveTheAmazon #PrayforAmazonas"


    Arjun Kapoor too shared an Instagram story and wrote, "It's scary how bad the fire at the Amazon Rainforest is!! I can't even begin to imagine the impact this will have on the world environment. It is truly saddening. #PrayforAmazons".

    Disha Patani shared a post by Leonardo DiCaprio on Isntagram and questioned why there was no media coverage on the issue. She wrote, “Terrifying to think that the Amazon is the largest rain forest on the planet, creating 20% of the earth’s oxygen, basically the lungs of the world, has been on fire and burning for the last 16 days running, with literally NO media coverage whatsoever! Why?”

    Anushka Sharma on her Instagram stories posted about the fire and wrote, "The Amazon rainforest has been burning for weeks and we are only just finding out about this!! This is such a scary news! Amazon forests are the lungs of this already suffering planet and they are on fire now! I wish this got more importance from world media!! #saveamazon"

    The fires are reported to be visible from space and scientists claim it to be the worst blow to the battle against climate change.
