Anubhav Sinha Is Ecstatic About Taapsee Pannu Starrer Thappad Winning Filmfare Award For Best Film

Bollywood filmmaker Anubhav Sinha is well-known for his one of a kind films and Thappad is considered to be one of his greatest till now. Starring Taapsee Pannu, Pavail Gulati, Ratna Pathak Shah, Tanvi Azmi, Dia Mirza and Kumud Mishra, the film has a simple yet deep and intriguing plot. A husband slaps his wife and she files for divorce. People tell her that it was ‘just a slap’, and she responds, “Just a slap, but nahi maar sakta.” That one sentence left us with goosebumps. Well, much to the delight of fans, the film got its due at the 66th Vimal Elaichi Filmfare Awards.

Not only did Thappad bag the trophy for Best Film, but also won many other awards in the categories of Best Playback Singer, Best Story and Best Editing among others. The talented Taapsee also earned the tag of Best Actress. Well, in a chat with Spotboye, the filmmaker revealed that he isn’t bothered that he didn’t receive the award for Best Director. He shared, “The Filmfare awards for Thappad mean so much to me. It is not a mainstream film in the strict sense of the term and it still did so well at the box office which was heartening enough.”

He went on to add, “And now all these filmfare awards in the Popular category and not in the ‘Critics Choice’. Awesome. We made the film we completely believed in and these 360 degree rewards couldn’t feel better.”

Well, he won our hearts yet again. The filmmaker is currently busy working on his next much awaited project Anek, starring Ayushmann Khurrana. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
