Anupam Kher Quits New Amsterdam Season 3 As Dr. Vijay Kapoor, Is It To Look After Wife Kirron Kher?

Anupam Kher, who was playing Dr. Vijay Kapoor in NBC drama New Amsterdam, has quit the show. The actor will not be seen in season 3 of the hit medical drama.He has been a part of the show since 2018.

The Deadline reported that the news comes after the Tuesday night episode where the staff of the Bellevue hospital learnt that Dr. Kapoor, the character played by Kher, has resigned from his duties. He was also shown to be contracting COVID and undergoing open-heart surgery. Whether his character will meet death has not yet been known, neither is his possibility of a return on the show. No official news has been shared yet by the actor or by the show's team.

The news comes right after he had revealed that his wife, Kirron Kher, has been suffering from blood cancer. He had earlier written on his social media, “Kirron has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. She is currently undergoing treatment and we are sure she will come out of this stronger than before. We are very blessed that she is being looked after by a phenomenal set of doctors.”
