Two of the most talented, sought-after and popular filmmakers of the Hindi film industry, Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar have collaborated for many hit projects over the past few years. They first teamed up for Bombay Talkies with Dibakar Banerjee and Zoya Akhtar and went on to helm other anthology films such as Lust Stories and Ghost Stories. That’s not all! Karan also played a role in Kashyap’s 2015 crime thriller Bombay Velvet, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.

While the dynamic duo have created magic every time they worked together, there was a time when rumors about their rivalry used to do the rounds. Remembering the same in a chat with Mid-Day, Anurag shared, “Karan Johar gave an interview calling me a psychopath. Till then we had not met. I called him a fat kid, who still thinks he is in school. Remember we had this fight in mid-day. I also said something about Anil Kapoor in the interview that became a headline. But people always knew I was childlike.”

Apparently it all began when Anurag gave his opinion of Karan’s chat show Koffee With Karan. Rumors suggested that he bad-mouthed the show and slammed KJo for giving only Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan’s names as choices for ‘best actor’ during a rapid fire session. Hitting back, Karan had apparently said that Anurag ‘may need a psychiatrist’.

Well, it’s great that the superstars buried the hatchet and share a healthy professional relationship today. There’s a lot we can learn from the filmmakers.
