Anurag Kashyap’s most ambitious project to date and one of the most expensive film in Bollywood Bombay Velvet is recalled to date as one of the biggest box office disasters of recent times. The film completed five years since its release and Anurag shared an unseen poster featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma to mark the occasion only to caption it with a heartbreak emoji.

Bombay Velvet is a retro gangster drama that released on May 15, 2015 and was met with a lot of backlash both from critics as well as audiences. The film not only added to Ranbir’s string of flops at the time which had started with Besharam in 2013 and continued with Roy and then this but also marked Karan Johar’s first and last appearance as an actor on the big screen.

Today however on Anurag’s post marking the anniversary of the film several fans commented stating that they actually liked Bombay Velvet. Some claimed the movie was ahead of its times while another fan called it Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Pulp Fiction’.

The appreciation for the film was no doubt limited but we hope that the filmmaker would be glad to see the support. There were comments dissing Bombay Velvet too but since lovers of the film are very few it was pretty surprising to see them share the love.
