    Appu star Puneeth Rajkumar dies at 46 after suffering a heart attack, tributes pour in

    Popular Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar died on Friday afternoon after suffering a massive heart attack. The actor was brought in to the Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru after he complained of chest pain on Friday morning. He was admitted to the ICU and doctors informed that his condition was critical in a statement to the press. Popularly called ‘Appu’ by his fans, Puneeth was 46.

    The actor was reportedly in the gym when he suffered the heart attack. ANI shared the statement from the hospital earlier today which said, “Puneeth Rajkumar was brought to the emergency department at 11:40 am. He was non-responsive and was in Cardiac Asystole and Advanced cardiac resuscitation has been initiated: Vikram Hospital, Bengaluru." 

    Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai had earlier today arrived at the hospital after the news of his critical condition broke out.

    The son of popular star Rajkumar, Puneeth was one of the highest paid actor in the Kannada film industry. He was known for films like Arasu, Rana Vikrama, Raajakumara, Milana and Natasaarvabhowma. His last film, Yuvarathnaa was a blockbuster which released in April this year.

     Condolences poured in on social media as the news of his death came to light this afternoon.  Stars like Genelia D’Souza, Hansika Motwane, Dulquer Salmaan, Ram Gopal Verma, Amritha, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Prakash Raj, Boney Kapoor, Raj and DK, Chiranjeevi Konidela, Sonu Sood and several others reacted to the shocking news and paid their tribute to the late actor.
