Arbaaz Khan Called For Questioning In IPL Betting Case

Bollywood actor-producer Arbaaz Khan was summoned by the Thane Police a couple of hours ago in connection to a betting case on IPL matches. He was called in for questioning and record his statement this afternoon. After Arbaaz's name cropped in the investigations, it seems that the Bollywood-IPL connect is again going to turn murky after another actor is accused of betting.

Arbaaz Khan, 42, who produced and directed his brother Salman Khan in Dabangg 2 is currently working on producing Dabangg 3. He is accused of being active in a betting ring led by bookie Sonu Jalan alias Sonu Batla who operated both in India and abroad. Jalan is said to be connected to underworld kingpin Dawood Ibrahim.

As per the reports, Jalan was visiting a person of interest at the Kalyan court but when the police came to know of his presence at the court premises they arrested him then and there. The police then went on to alert the other police stations and cops and laid a trap for the persons connected in this betting case and Arbaaz's name cropped up.

There are reports that Arbaaz placed bets on live matches during the current 11th season of Indian Premier League. Headed by Senior Inspector Pradeep Sharma, an anti-extortion cell of the police had arrested Gautam Sawla, Nikhil, Nitish Punjani, Khushal Rama Bhiya and Bittu Joshi for running a betting racket and while interrogating Jalan and other 5 bookies, Arbaaz's connection with them was unsurfaced.
