Sidharth Malhotra and Sharddha Kapoor starrer 2014 film Ek Villain which was big hit back in the day is ready to get a sequel. Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Ekta Kapoor the film was much in the talks for Riteish Deshmukh’s serial killer avatar which sent chills down our spine. While Sidharth and Riteish have picked up similar roles in the upcoming film Marjaavaan, the news is that the makers have now roped in Arjun Kapoor for the Ek Villain sequel.

According to the buzz, Arjun will be the antagonist in the film while it is still not confirmed if Sidharth will reprise his role as the protagonist. Since it was Riteish’s portrayal as the villain that got the film all the attention when it released, it is clear that the makers will not want to deviate from that.

According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, producer Ekta Kapoor plans to turn Ek Villain into a franchise much like Yash Raj Films’ Dhoom. “Ekta Kapoor wants to turn Ek Villain into her production house’s Dhoom franchise. The problem here is who will play the formal hero when the villain has the author-backed role?”

Arjun Kapoor is currently busy with Panipat and also has in his kitty the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Comali in his kitty which will be bankrolled by his father Boney Kapoor.

It is only after Arjun wraps up Panipat next year will he begin work on Ek Villain 2 which has Mohit Suri returning as the director.
