Arjun Patiala Review: Nothing To Review It's Not Even A Film

Arjun Patiala Movie Review: Not A Spoof, The Film Is Just Plain Goof

    Movie: Arjun Patiala

Actors: Diljit Dosanjh, Kriti Sanon, Varun Sharma, Ronit Roy, Pankaj Tripathi, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Seema Pahwa

    Director: Rohit Jugraj

Rated: 1 Out of 5 Stars

My Verdict: There Is No Verdict At All, Nothing To Review In the film, that one star is for Diljit and also for the thought of making a film!

So, the film is a spoof. Looks like after watching the film, I should make a spoof video of myself watching the film and vomiting out some gooey shit. I don’t know what the film was. Outrageous characters, stupid one-liners and what kind of name is Onidaa??

Well, let us straight dive into the critique, if at all it is one! Wait, is this a spoof write-up? Is there anything called spoof-review?! Can’t really tell – Anyway, Arjun Patiala is a spoof on the countless films Bollywood has produced.

It has Diljit Dosanjh playing Patiala who gets the job of a sub-inspector in the Punjab police via sports quota, there is Kriti Sanon who plays a feisty reporter and also the love interest of Patiala and then there is Onidda Singh played by Varun Sharma. Arjun considers Ronit Roy’s DySP Gill character to be his GURU and he has taken it upon himself to rid Ferozepur of all crime and criminals (this happened to be DySP Gill’s vow in the film though) and he keeps planning and plotting throughout the film to attain absolute freedom from the gundaraaj with his close aide constable Onidda Singh! Onidda is an absolutely bizarre person himself because after multiple heartbreaks and rejections he has finally settled for a buffalo as his lady love! HAHAHAHA!

There are other characters who have been given funny nicknames in the film – Property Makkar aka MLA Prapti Makkar played by Seema Pahwa, Sakool played by Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub is a local goon. “Why do you bother telling me about the script?” asks Pankaj Tripathi who plays a director in the film. He continues, “I have been making films for three generations and have never once heard a script!” – Some joke, I tell you! Wonder whether Rohit Jugraj, the director of the film actually did the same and whether writers Ritesh Shah and Sandeep Leyzell used their grey matter at all before penning down the script of the film.

There is nothing to review in the film! I was wondering whether I should just walk off from the theatre midway! We have seen spoofs that are made in the west, they literally extract laughter out of the viewer without even trying and Arjun Patiala really tries hard and all it can do is make the viewer scoff at the film!

Kriti Sanon’s Ritu Randhawa tries to do a Sushmita Sen wearing a saree and what’s spoofier is she is introduced in the film as “Heroine No 1” – Well, for once in the film I surely was convinced that it was indeed a spoof!!
