Arshad Warsi On Stepping Away From Comic Roles With Durgavati: I Hug All The People Who Offer Me Non-Funny Roles

Arshad Warsi’s best remembered roles in Bollywood are those where he tickled the funny bone of the audience making them laugh till they dropped. Even with his amazing acting chops and impeccable sense of humour Arshad Warsi has confessed that he did feel underutilized as a talent. The actor has now made a pivot to attempting more serious roles and has pleasantly surprised all with his versatility.

The actor who explored a more somber role with his digital debut Asur, is playing a politician in his recently released film Durgamati and he couldn’t be happier. Talking to Mid-Day Arshad says, "I've got way more than what I bargained for or asked for; what I came with and what I have now, there's a huge difference, so I've got more than what I'm due. But I do feel that I've not been utilised very well. I wish people would take advantage of me, use me for what I can bring to a film because I think I have a lot more to give than people have taken.”

Arshad admits that he gets fed up of doing comedies back to back and that he did get offers for serious roles but there weren’t many that interested him.

Talking about Durgamati the actor said that even though he’s not a big fan of horror the film he loved playing a serious politician, “I loved my character, loved what I'm playing. I was happy that someone offered me a non-comic role, for a change. I hug all the people who offer me non-funny roles. I'm very happy with them, I love them."
