The Anubhav Sinha film could have fared better over the weekend if not for some hurdles affecting its smooth run. With the obvious threat from Kabir Singh stealing the limelight its business was also slowed down by the India versus England world cup match on Sunday. The screening of the film was also stopped in Kanpur for a day after a group protested against the film that questions the caste-based practices.

The film however remains strong in the key metro cities according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh and is expected to earn nearly 34 crores in the first week according to the current trends.

Article 15 became Ayushmann’s second highest weekend opener after Baadhai Ho that had earned Rs. 45.70 crores on its extended opening weekend in 2018. The first week remains crucial for Article 15 despite passing the crucial Monday test.
