As Filmmaker Shankar & Anniyan Producer Fight Over Rights, Kiara Advani Joins The Remake Opposite Ranveer Singh

Actress Kiara Advani has joined the cast of the much-talked-about remake of the 2005 Tamil blockbuster Anniyan as the leading lady opposite Ranveer Singh. The Hindi remake of the psychological thriller was announced last week with filmmaker S Shankar at the helm and had already landed in controversy after V Ravichandran shared an open letter claiming that the new film was illegal. The filmmaker countered the producer’s claim and said that he has the rights to remake the film.

While the tug of war over rights to remake the project continues between the producer and filmmaker, a Mid-Day report has suggested that Kiara signed the dotted line for the project on Friday. This will be Ranveer and Kiara’s first on-screen collaboration.

Kiara already has films like Shershaah, Jug Jug Jiya, and Bhool Bhulaiya 2 in her kitty and the Anniyan remakes for a handsome addition to the list. The movie, which the makers promise will be one of the biggest cinematic events in history, will see Ranveer stepping into the shoes of South star Vikram.

Talking about the project Ranveer had said, “To lead a film like ‘Anniyan’ is a dream come true for any artiste. Vikram sir, one of our country’s finest talents, an artiste who I hugely admire, gave a colossal performance in the original, one that can never be matched. I can only hope that my interpretation and rendition of the part also connects with audiences in the same way. It’s undoubtedly a once-in-a-lifetime performance piece, and I am ready to give this role every single ounce of my being.”

Makers are yet to make an official announcement about Kiara joining the team.
