As Rhea Chakraborty Faces Media Trial, The Story Of Rekha's 'Witch Hunt' After Her Husband's Suicide Goes Viral

Rhea Chakraborty’s alleged role in Sushant Singh Rajput’s case has the world divided. While one section is frowning upon the media trial portraying the actress as the bad guy without any proven offence, another section backing Sushant’s family in claiming that the actress murdered the 34-year-old Bollywood star.

Under these tense circumstances, an excerpt from veteran actress Rhekha’s biography is going viral on social media that talks about the phase where she was being looked down upon in the media and being blamed after her husband Mukesh Aggarwal ended his life by suicide in 1990, months after marrying the actress.

A Facebook user shared the excerpts from the book on Rekha’s life written by Yasser Usman to prove that in over 30 years not much has changed about the media ‘witch hunt’ that blames the women for the downfall of the men in their lives.

The excerpt read: ‘On October 2, 1990, Mukesh, Rekha's husband, decided to take away his life. He had hanged himself to the ceiling fan of his room, using his wife's dupatta. Same Mukesh, who reportedly seemed happy on the fateful day, according to his brother Anil. Rekha came to know about Mukesh's chronic depression after getting married.’

Talking about what followed, the post quoted the reaction of the media, Mukesh’s family and even leading names in Bollywood like Subhash Ghai and Anupam Kher named and shamed Rekha putting the blame of her husband’s death on her.

The actress was referred to as ‘a blot on the face of the film industry’, ‘national vamp’, ‘the black widow’, ‘dayaan’.

30 years later Rhea Chakraborty has been accused of ‘murdering’ boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput and post her arrest in alleged connection to drugs many voices are slowly rising against the media trial that has already declared the actress a convict.
