Ayushmann Khurrana And Amitabh Bachchan’s Gulabo Sitabo May Get A Digital Release; Deets Inside

On 24^th March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared a nationwide lockdown to help stop the spread of coronavirus. During this period, shoots of many upcoming movies was stalled, whereas release dates of much-awaited films was postponed indefinitely. One such project, which was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated releases of the year, is Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo. Featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan in quirky characters, the family comedy-drama was initially slated to hit theatres on 17^th April 2020.

Since it is still not clear if the lockdown will finally end on May 3^rd or will be extended once again, many filmmakers are considering launching their films on OTT platforms rather than delaying the release. In a chat with Mumbai Mirror, Shoojit Sircar opened up about the same and shared that as a filmmaker he obviously wants to see his film on the big screen. But keeping in mind the situation that we are in today, he is open to a digital release for Gulabo Sitabo. However, the team will take a final decision only after 3^rd of May.

The film revolves around the lives of a landlord, played by Big B, and his tenant, who is being portrayed by Ayushmann. Interestingly, Gulabo and Sitabo are names of popular glove puppet characters from Uttar Pradesh.
