Honestly, it is only because of Ayushmann Khurrana that films like Dream Girl can be made in Bollywood. It takes a lot of courage as an actor to consistently play risky roles in experimental movies and we know that Ayushmann has made an art out of it, but even then, no one expected him to put on a saree and dress up as Sita and Radha or be the sexy seductress Pooja, an intimate call service provider. It would surely be quite a struggle for the National Award-winning actor to talk in a female voice for a major chunk of the movie. But, he surely has practise as this is not the first time that Ayushmann has pretended to be a woman over the phone.

During the trailer launch event, Ayushmann narrated an incident where he had to pretend to be a girl on phone. Ayushmann revealed that when he was in 10th standard, once his then girlfriend’s father snatched the phone from her hand and he had to talk in a girl’s voice to save the situation.

Jokes apart, Ayushmann also opened up about the difficulties of talking in a woman’s voice. He said, “he biggest challenge was to crack the right note. As a guy, I have a natural (deep) baritone and that makes it difficult to sound convincing as a woman. To transition between voices was challenging, but it wasn't one bit exhausting. I am naturally drawn to different characters, so this was an adventure.”

He also talked about how he prepared for the challenging role. He said, “I had to deliver 25 percent of my dialogues in a woman's voice. Since I come from a radio background, it's easier for me to modulate my voice. I have spent years behind the mic, mimicking different people. Raaj had given me the references of a few men, who prank people by talking like a woman. I studied those videos extensively.”
