As reported this morning, one of the biggest super hits of 2018 Badhaai Ho is getting a sequel. Titled Badhaai Do, the social comedy will be directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni and will feature superstars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles. The film will revolve around the only male cop in a mahila thana, played by Raj, and a school PT teacher portrayed by Bhumi. Interestingly, both the actors will play homosexual characters.

While the audiences are very excited to see Raj and Bhumi together on the big screen, fans were slightly confused about why Badhaai Ho star Ayushmann Khurrana is not a part of his film’s sequel. Well, a report in Spotboye reveals, “The makers had thought about the idea of going thematic and franchised based on Badhaai Ho, 2 years back. They always wanted fresh characters in their films, which also meant new actors playing them. This is one of the primary reasons why Ayushmann was not considered. Add on to that he just played a gay character in Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan, so the producers would have definitely wanted to avoid a repetition.”

Amit Sharma’s directorial Badhaai Ho, which also featured Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, Surekha Sikri and Sanya Malhotra, follows the story of a 25 year old man who is shocked to learn that his mother is pregnant. It not only won many hearts but also made a whopping collection at the Box Office.
