Badhaai Ho Director Amit Sharma To Helm Deepika Padukone’s The Intern; Film Will Go On Floors Soon

Bollywood’s reigning queen Deepika Padukone was last seen on the big screen in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. It has been a year since the film released and the actress’ fans are now eagerly waiting to see her shine on the silver screen again. Much to our delight, Deepika has many exciting projects in the pipeline at the moment including Shakun Batra’s next with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday, ‘83 with husband Ranveer Singh and Pathan co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. Other than these, another project of Deepika’s that has been making headlines is the adaptation of Hollywood hit, The Intern.

Well the latest report shared by Pinkvilla has revealed that makers have now roped in Badhaai Ho director Amit Sharma to helm the project. A source revealed, “They were contemplating on multiple names, but finally, zeroed in on Amit Sharma as the director. Sharma in the past has helmed Badhaai Ho and is currently on the verge of completing the Ajay Devgn fronted sport biopic, Maidaan. The team of The Intern unanimously felt that Amit is the best choice for the film and the director too is in sync with the vision to bring the classic to India. In-fact, he has already prepared a draft for his adaptation and will develop it further once Maidaan is wrapped up in a fortnight.”

The Intern will now go on floors in the month of November this year. Late superstar Rishi Kapoor was originally cast to reprise the role played by Robert De Niro in the original. The casting of the character is now underway and will hopefully be locked in the next few months.
