Badshah Defends Masakali 2.0 Saying 'Comparisons Are Inevitable', Has This To Say About A.R. Rahman's Response

Releasing a remix of Masakali 2.0 wasn’t such a bright idea on the part of the makers is a fact that is becoming more and more evident each day since its release. The song by Tanishk Bagchi who has remixed several Bollywood songs in the past is receiving flak from all corners and especially from the original composers.

The Delhi 6 song composer A.R. Rahman steered clear from crying foul about the new version, but strongly recommended fans to listen to the original and that itself spoke volumes of how much he hated it. Filmmaker Rakesh Omprakash Mehra also condemned the remix as did Prasoon Joshi. Trolls had a field day churning memes the day the song featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria was released.

Now singer and rapper Badshah has come out as one of the few folks defending the song and said that comparisons to the original are inevitable and on A.R. Rahman dissing remixes he remarked that the Oscar-winning composer had actually appreciated him for his version of Humma Humma.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror the singer said, “We were at an event and he called me from the other end of the room, to say that he really liked my remixed version of Humma Humma."

Talking about Masakali 2.0 the singer chose not to comment on the song itself and said, "Comparisons are inevitable. I loved the Aankh Marey remix more than the original. My 2015 song Wakhra Swag was recently remixed for a film without my knowledge. It worked but I’m still asked to play my version wherever I go.”

Badshah is a strong supporter of audience reception on the matter and sadly that too isn’t in Masakali’s favour based on responses.
