Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has completed 6 years since its release at the box office and the film is a special one to remember for more reasons than one. Based on the life of one of the most prominent sportsmen in Indian history Milkha Singh, the story was brought to life on the big screen by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra with Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor leading the film.

Milkha Singh, however, ensured that he was giving away his story to the right people and had challenged Farhan to a race when he first met him during the research for the project. Needless to say, he was satisfied and not only did he give minute details of his story to director Rakesh Omprakash Mehra but also charged a mere Rs. 1 as payment for giving away the rights to make Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

The cast and crew of the movie seem more inspired to work on this project than to see it as a money minting project and when Farhan who played Milkha Singh in the movie was asked what fee he charged to do the film the actor gave a simple but complex answer. In an interview, Farhan was quoted saying, “I charged 100 meters for 11.4 seconds.”

Confused by that answer? 11.4 seconds was the time recorded by Milkha Singh in the 100-meter Olympic race where he lost out by just two seconds. The actor-director on the 6 years of the film wrote, “6 years since #bhaagmilkhabhaag came along and changed my life.. heart is filled with gratitude for all the love you have shown and continue to show our film. Big big hug."
