Bhagyashree wanted Abhimanyu Dasani to get into something more stable than acting: "I told him kuch aur kar lo"

Bhagyashree opened up about her son Abhimanyu Dasani following into her footsteps and joining Bollywood. While the actor may be a star kid, Bhagyashree is proud of the fact that her son went about seeking work through auditions and had to face rejections before he could find a place in the industry.

The actress looked back at the time when Abhimanyu told her about his decision to enter films and how she guided him by talking to him about the hardships that come with being an actor. During a recent interview with ETimes, Bhagyashree recalled suggesting Abhimanyu, ‘kuch aur kar lo,’ as she was well aware about the lack of stability that comes with the profession. Abhimanyu made his debut with Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and won several accolades for the project but there was a time when Bhagyashree was apprehensive of his decision.

Bhagyashree spoke at length about how she details the difficulties of being an actor and how there is no one to fall back one to Abhimanyu.  “I laid out everything in front of him. And he looked at me and said, so you don’t want me to become an actor? (laughs) He was excellent in his education. So I told him ‘kuch aur kar lo (do something else)’, something more stable, something that will give you the life that you wish to lead without having the pitfalls, but I’m here to support you for anything that you want to do and I’m happy in whatever decision you want to take,” she told the publication.

Speaking about him eventually becoming an actor she further added, “He went ahead, gave auditions, and more than half the auditions, I didn’t even know where he was going. Then he got his first film, after he signed everything, he came and said, ‘Mom, I’m doing this’. His journey has been his own. And, I would say it’s been tough for him and I’m very happy that he went through this whole process of auditions and rejections because it makes you value what you have.”

Abhimanyu will be seen next in Nikamma which also stars Shirley Setia and Shilpa Shetty. As for Bhagyashree, the actress recently starred in Thalaivi and her performance in the film has been widely appreciated.
