Bhoot Police: Saif Ali Khan And Arjun Kapoor’s Horror Comedy To Premiere On Disney+Hotstar?

Amid the coronavirus pandemic many films have taken a direct to digital route, which has been like a blessing for most movie lovers. Initially it was a good idea because theatres had shut down. But even after they reopened and a few films released, it was clear that not everyone is going to risk stepping out at the moment. Well according to latest reports, producer Ramesh Taurani has decided to release the much awaited Bhoot Police on an OTT platform. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam, the horror comedy was slated to hit theatres on 10th September.

In a report shared by Pinkvilla, a source close to the development was quoted saying, “There is so much uncertainty around the country due to the spike in Covid-19 cases and no one can assure as to when will things be back to normal. The cinema consumption habit has also changed for the audience significantly and only event films will get the cash registers ringing to start with. Hence, Ramesh Ji decided to take a direct to digital route with his horror comedy.”

The report further suggests that makers have had a verbal agreement with streaming giant Disney+Hotstar. If things go according to plan, paperwork will soon be underway. The source also shared that the digital platform may announce a slate of releases just like they did in 2020. While many of us do miss the theatre ‘vaataavaran’ and the smell of fresh popcorn, maybe attending the premiere from the comfort of our couch is not that bad an idea, given the circumstances.
