Boney Kapoor Talks About Maidaan Set Getting Destroyed: If I Think About The Pressure Or Feelings Or Loss, I Will Start Crying

Boney Kapoor’s Maidaan was severely damaged during Cyclone Tauktae recently. The producer who had earlier revealed that he has already invested Rs. 30 crores in building the set for the football biographical drama now says that he if thinks about the overshot budget and the expenses he might go into depression.

Maidaan starring Ajay Devgn is scheduled for a release later this year and with the lockdown preventing shoots, the sets of the film on the outskirts of Mumbai had been lying unused. Talking about the destruction caused by the recent cyclone, Boney told Hindustan Times, "What I am going through is horrible. I don’t want to be reminded of it. If I think about the pressure or feelings or loss, I will start crying. If I think about the budget overshooting and expenses pilling up, I might go into depression. Mera dil hi nahin kar raha ke set dekhu abhi."

The set that were demolished last year during the lockdown will have to be rebuilt for the third time after 70-80% of it has been damaged.

Boney also spoke about keeping a positive out look and added, “All I know and I am doing is staying positive and thinking positive. Fortunately, thank God, there was no casualty and no one was injured. Luckily all 40-50 people who were on the set, were fine. It would have been worse had anything happened to anyone.”

Maidaan is due for theatres in October this year after having been delayed by a year due to the pandemic.
